A client asked last month why we deliver checkpoint reports on paper when everything else in their life is digital. Fair question.

Paper survives account closures, password manager lockouts, and the simple fact that heirs may not know which cloud folder holds a PDF. A signed report in a safe—or attached to a will supplement—requires no software to read. Trustees opening an estate six years from now may encounter hardware wallets for the first time; a physical document with plain-language balance summaries gives them a starting point.

We do offer digital copies on request. Most clients decline. They have seen enough drive failures and forgotten encryption passwords to prefer ink on archival paper. Our reports use numbered pages and a company seal specifically so alterations are visible.

This is not nostalgia. It is risk management suited to assets that already live outside traditional financial infrastructure.
